Questions
- What is the policy on late work and make-up work? How does it affect the student's grade? If work is excused, I give the student 5 days to make up the homework. I expect the student to come to tutorial to make up tests, or perhaps notes he or she would have taken in class.
- How do absences affect the grade? Absences- excused or unexcused always have some effect on what a student gets out of a class. In reality there is no substitute for being in class. But if students misses class for good reason and does all of the make-up work as required, it should not affect his or her grade.
- How can I check on my son's or daughter's progress in school? Do you give weekly progress reports? 1) In general, a student can get a weekly progress report “blank” from the office and go around a have each teacher fill it in. It is very common. 1) For grades I will post them on the Internet and I will show you how to access them. Either via my Analy web page or wiki page.
- How do I know what the homework is? Is there an online homework calendar? I post the homework on my wiki page- available
- Should I call or email the teacher? Please email me if you have a problem.
- How can I check on detentions or behavior issues? 1) After a warning I generally give a ten-minute detention after school for small infractions. If your child misses a detention, I will generally give him/her either a half hour after school or demand that he/ she attend the next tutorial with me. 2) I will generally call home or let a parent know by email, if a student misses a detention. 3) If you are generally curious about your child’s behavior in my class, I would be glad to give you an answer via email. 4) Copies of referrals to the vice-principal will be kept in the student’s file. I will always call home if I give a student referral.
